People on their way to work in Shoreditch last week may have thought they’d gone barking mad when they saw a wall of cuddly puppies.
The Dogs Trust unveiled a billboard in Red Church Street made up of hundreds of toy dogs to increase awareness of the illegal puppy smuggling trade from Central and Eastern Europe.
Passers-by were free to pick up a toy from the board, with each dog’s tag telling the story of the terrible journey their real-life counterparts had to endure to get to England.
Runa Hanaghan from the charity said: “Those who take a toy will discover the terrible journey their cute friend had to endure to get to London through the message on their tags”.
