Join in the final lantern making workshop at the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden this Saturday and your creations will be added to the 300 jam jar, paper bag and vegetable lanterns which have been made there over the past five weeks for the Festival of Light.

Even a greenhouse at the garden off Dalston Lane has even been transformed into a giant magical lantern, and December sees all of the lanterns illuminating the garden in a series of special events and “Light Nights” on Thursdays to Sunday evenings.

The magical lantern workshop takes place on Sunday from 2-4pm, where you can also make a pompom to tie on to the garden’s Christmas tree and learn how to make a winter wreath from ivy.

The garden’s café will serve hot soup, spiced cider, mulled wine and hot chocolate to enjoy inside the Pineapple House next to its wood-burning stove, before all of the lanterns are lit up as darkness falls.

Local designers will also be selling handcrafted and vintage gifts on Sunday from 2pm to 8pm.
