Celebrate the forgotten apple varieties of England’s orchards at Apple Day this weekend.
There will be apple bobbing and other games, storytelling, an apple pie workshop for kids and apple juicing laid on at Hackney City Farm this Sunday.
Apple Day was founded 23 years ago by charity Common Ground to focus on the hundreds of native apple varieties in the UK which are ignored in favour of a handful of supermarket-friendly strains, which are often flown in from abroad.
The event takes place from noon till 4pm in the main garden of the farm in Goldsmith’s Row, Haggerston.
