An elderly pedestrian has died a five days after being in collision with a van in Stoke Newington. Traffic officers are now appealing for witnesses to the incident involving the 78-year-old woman which happened just before midday last Wednesday in the Broad Common Estate off Osbaldeston Road.

The woman, who has not yet been named, was taken to the Royal London Hospital where she died on Monday. A post mortem is due to take place tomorrow.

A police spokesman said: “At this early stage it is understood the collision occurred as the van was reversing and the pedestrian was crossing the road behind it.

“The driver of the van, a man, stopped at the scene. He was not arrested.”
