A suspected gas leak in the centre of Dalston is causing traffic chaos as rush hour approaches
The A10 Kingsland Road has been cordoned off and there is queuing traffic in both directions between the A104 Ball’s Pond Road junction and the Shacklewell Lane junction.
A spokeswoman for Hackney police, who are in attendance, said the leak was caused when workers cut through a mains pipe in Kingsland High Street, near the junction with Gillett Street.
A spokesman for National Grid said it was a ‘third party’ that caused the damage and that engineers were currently at the scene trying to rectify the damage.
