Campaign group organises public meeting

Healthcare campaigners are organising a public meeting to discuss fears for the future of the NHS with Hackney patients.

Hackney Keep Our NHS Public has issued a call to arms following concerns about the coalition government’s proposals to overhaul the health system, as set out in its White Paper.

More than 80 Hackney doctors have already condemned plans for GPs to take charge of public health budgets, arguing this will damage patient care.

Dr Coral Jones of Hackney Keep Our NHS Public and City & Hackney ELIC (East London Integrated Care) said: “People in Hackney are committed to the care of patients in Hackney, and we need patients to support us to fight the changes.”

The meeting will take place at 7pm on November 4 at Lauriston School in Lauriston Road, South Hackney.
