Views sought on ambitious masterplan
Ambitious plans for the Manor House area are set to make it much more than a busy road junction and commuter interchange for travellers.
A blueprint for the future of the area around Manor House Tube station
has been drawn up by the council who are inviting residents to have their say on shaping its development.
It’s consulting the public on a masterplan outlining potential planning policies and strategies aimed at transforming the area over the next 15 years.
The proposals would revitalise the neighbourhood which is bounded by the open spaces of Finsbury Park and the West Reservoir, has access to the London Underground network, and is adjacent the giant Woodberry Down estate, which is undergoing a �1 billion redevelopment.
The council wants views and comments on it proposals for Manor House which include a new public square as well as new facilities at the entrance of Finsbury Park.
It also wants feedback on the height and use of buildings around the area as well as views about the ability to move to, from and within the area.
Councillor Guy Nicholson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, said: “Now is the time to decide on the best use of these opportunities for the future of the Manor House neighbourhood, and for residents and businesses to send in their ideas and thoughts about how Manor House becomes our newest town centre.”
The consultation which runs until 6 December 2010 is open to all, but the Council particularly encourages responses from, residents and businesses in the Manor House and Woodberry Down area. Also people that use the transport links in and around Manor House.
People can have their say by viewing the masterplan on web and completing the feedback survey online at www.hackney.gov.uk/manor-house-aap, or they can attend one of three drop in sessions over the next three weeks to find out more information.
They are being held on Tuesday October 19 between 6-8pm, at Woodberry Down Primary School, Woodberry Grove, Stoke Newington and on Monday,October 25 between 6-8pm, at West Reservoir Centre, Green Lanes, Stoke Newington
