A new pizza restaurant that hopes to shift the public perception of pizza as unhealthy will open near London Fields in mid-November.

Pizza Triangle operations manager Sapamuhammet (Sapa) Nurberdiyev said the restaurant would create between 10 and 20 new jobs.

Sapa said all of the restaurant's ingredients are imported from Italy. He added that the kitchen roasts their ingredients instead of frying them to make the pizzas healthier.

He continued: "The concept of pizza has changed a lot. Nowadays, people are very worried about healthy eating, about calories, about junk food and unfortunately pizza has entered that category.

"We want to change that perception and bring the original concept back to the market."

According to Sapa, Pizza Triangle is "an Italian traditional pizzeria".

"We do Neapolitan-style, woodfire pizza which cooks in about 90 seconds. We use a special flour which makes it stand out from the crowd - it's a superfood!

"There is lots of fibre in it so it's healthier and more easily digestible."

Pizza Triangle was one of four Golden Winners of the Papa Industry Awards, announced October 21.

The restaurant has four other locations across the UK - in Newcastle under Lyme, Solihull, Barnet and Walsall - and will open in Nottingham and Sheffield too.

Sapa said Pizza Triangle plans to open at least 10 more stores in Hackney within the year.

Vegan and gluten-free options are also available on the menu, with prices starting at £5.10 and going up to £15.10.

Pizza Triangle is located at 257 Mare Street, Hackney.
