Shops and businesses were evacuated after part of a building collapsed this morning (Friday, January 27).

Emergency services were called to the incident on the A10 High Street in Stoke Newington, Hackney, at around 9.30am. 

Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade crews rushed to the scene.

Hackney Police said there were no reports of any serious injuries but that some addresses were evacuated as a precaution.

Salon Horc and Co and A and B Glassworks were among the businesses affected by the collapse.

A spokesperson for Horc and Co said they were "devastated" about the damage caused by the incident.

A and B Glassworks added on Instagram: "We may be closed for a while. 

"No one was hurt thankfully."

London Ambulance Service sent one ambulance crew, an incident response officer, members of its hazardous area response team (HART), and a medic in a fast response car.

A spokesperson said: "Our first medic arrived at the scene in approximately two minutes."

The A10 High Street was closed one way between Brooke Road and B104 Stoke Newington Church Street, according to AA maps.

The road is still currently closed and detours are in place for bus routes 67, 76, 149, 243 and 276.
