A police horse who was savagely attacked by an out-of-control dog in east London has received "several wounds" to his legs, chest and belly.

PH Urbane is currently recuperating outside of central London and the Met said he been "inundated" with treats from the public.

The attack took place in Victoria Park, Tower Hamlets on Wednesday (March 22) and the dog was seized afterwards.

A video of the attack, which has been seen 2.5 million times on one TikTok post, shows the dog with its jaws locked onto the horse's legs.

Shouts can be heard, including someone saying: "Get hold of it someone. Someone get hold of the dog. F***s sake!"

The officer riding PH Urbane at the time of the incident received no physical injuries and the dog remains in kennels.

A spokesperson for the Met Police Taskforce said: "Police Horse Urbane, who received several wounds to his front legs, chest and under belly by a dog on Wednesday, March 23 is currently recuperating at our stables outside of central London.

"He is being seen daily by a vet who is making sure he is as comfortable as possible.

"It is believed he will make a full recovery.

"Urbane has been inundated with apples and treats from concerned and kind members of public.

"The police officer riding Urbane received no physical injuries and is being supported by his team at the Mounted Branch.

"The dog remains in police kennels."
