A woman who has seen more than 60 Disney films after a childhood holiday to "the happiest place on earth" is competing for the chance to be crowned the UK’s biggest fan.

Kathryn Chung has made it to the final 10 in the contest, which received entries from fans across the UK.

The first part of the competition involved submitting a video between 30 and 60 seconds long on Instagram or Facebook explaining their love of Disney.

The Fish Island woman said: "When I saw it, I thought, 'I have to enter this'.

"I just wanted to be real and tell the story of what Disney meant to me.

"For me, it’s really the feeling, it’s an emotion Disney evokes in you, it’s the happiness that Disney gave me when I was younger - when I was five years old and I went on my first ever holiday to Disney World, Florida.

"It just took my breath away when I was five. It was everything – the music, the characters, the architecture.

"It just encompassed me and we ended up going back four years later, eight years later as well, and it always resonated with me that this was the happiest place on earth.

"It had the happiest memories with my family and, after that, I’ve ended up surrounding myself with Disney because that’s what makes me happy – that Disney magic."

Starting last Friday (March 31), over 10 days, they will compete in 10 challenges at the theme parks and on board the ship.

The winner will be crowned in front of Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and will stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite, which Kathryn said is her "dream of a lifetime".

Kathryn, who previously lived in Stratford, Newham, before moving to Hackney Wick nearly five years ago, continued: "We don’t know what the challenges are yet, it's top secret - it’ll be a surprise and be fair to everyone…

"I’m hopeful, and I’m wishing upon a star that it’s all going to go well and that will hopefully be able to be crowned the UK’s biggest fan and stay in the Cinderella castle suite because it’s a lifetime dream – not one that you can plan or book, you have to win it or be invited to the suite."

She added: "I’m a bit nervous because I’m competing against nine other people – I just don’t want to come last!"
