They have featured on the cover of Elle magazine, appeared in Vogue and on the Academy Awards red carpet, now acclaimed rock trio Haim will make their Luno presents All Points East debut on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28, for a European exclusive show.

With the Californian trio ready to rock on the Monday, this year’s All Points East is looking pretty spectacular – with an amazing array of talent running through each day from start to finish.

"To have HAIM headline Bank Holiday Monday at All Points East for a European exclusive show is hugely exciting," said Malaika Thomas, festivals marketing manager.

"As a band, they encompass what All Points East is - somewhere to see creative and talented artists, fresh talent alongside big stars, all in one place.

"As credible songwriters, skilful musicians and fantastic live performers, HAIM have it all, and we can’t wait for their headline show in Victoria Park in August.

"The whole lineup is bursting with talent across many genres and we know it’s going to be a bank holiday to remember."

Sisters Alana, Este and Danielle Haim signed their very first record deal in the UK back in 2012. In their interview with Elle UK magazine, Alana, who recently appeared in the Paul Thomas Anderson movie, Licorice Pizza, reflected on the band’s early days, and the pushback they received.

“The amount of people who were like, ‘You’re never going to make it. Give up!’, recalled Alana.

“We’ve done so many things in our career, despite what people in the industry have said.

“Being told you’ll never sell out a venue, then you do.

“You’ll never headline a festival, and then we do. It fuels the fire.”

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley - Danielle on guitar and lead vocals, Este on guitar and bass, and Alana on guitar and keyboards - the sisters will hit the East End fresh from touring the USA’s West Coast with Taylor Swift.

Connecting the dots between 1970s rock, 1980s synth pop, and 1990s R&B, HAIM’s distinct sound and knack for songwriting has led to GRAMMY nominations, sold-out tours and three critically acclaimed albums.

Their latest release, Women in Music Pt. III, was one of the most anticipated albums of 2020. Although delayed due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the record received widespread critical acclaim and became their second No.1 album in the UK.

The music confronted real issues the sisters were dealing with, including depression, mourning and illness. NME gave it five stars, calling it “their best yet… more than worth the wait: it's somehow punky, vulnerable and soothing – and a thing of great beauty”.

Also making their All Points East debut are Norwegian indie-pop outfit Girl In Red, who, like Haim, have been touring with Taylor Swift.
