Three men who were chased down by police officers and a police dog after an armed robbery have been convicted.

A neighbour heard cries of distress as the burglars searched a Hackney property and attacked two occupants in their sleep on July 13.

Three masked burglars entered the property with crowbars: Deurell Doodnaughtsingh, 23, of Dunsfold Way; Joshua Paddy 22, of Lett Road; and Derek Miranda, 18, of St Francis Road.

They search the place for drugs and money and injured the occupants while they were in their bed.

Officers were called to the scene after a neighbour heard the cries, and the suspects fled from the back of the home.

They were chased on foot and Doodnaughtsingh and Paddy were detained.

Miranda was then found a couple of hours later by a police dog, hiding in a school basement.

The three defendants appeared at Wood Green crown court on August 7 where they pleaded guilty to taking part in an aggravated burglary.

Sentencing will take place on October 6.

Detective Constable Kevin O’Shea said: “I cannot begin to imagine the terror that the victims experienced when these three men entered their bedroom at 3am, masked and armed with crowbars.

"These verdicts reflect the commitment of police in bringing those guilty of such crimes to account and also in bringing justice to victims.”
