Police are investigating a blaze that destroyed the ground and most of the first floor of an end-terraced house.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a house fire in Northwold Road, Stoke Newington, yesterday (September 6).

The ground floor of a two-storey end-of-terraced house and most of the first floor was destroyed by flames, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

The brigade's 999 control officers received 20 calls about the fire at around 6.20pm.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

Road closures were put in place while the incident was ongoing.

Crews from Stoke Newington, Tottenham and Homerton fire stations had the fire under control by 7.33pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the LFB and the Metropolitan Police.
