A man who was found dead in a flat in Hackney has been named in court documents as Dimitris Tsavdaris.

The Metropolitan Police were called to an address in Lansdowne Drive, in London Fields, Hackney, at about 12.30am last Monday (January 29) about concerns for the welfare of a man there.

On arrival, officers found a man dead inside the flat.

A post-mortem examination held on Wednesday (January 31) found that the man died as a result of injuries caused by an assault, Scotland Yard said.

Bamidele Fawehinmi, 31, of Clissold Close in Muswell Hill, has been charged with Mr Tsavdaris’ murder.

He appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday (February 2).

A spokesperson for the Met said the victim was of no fixed address and that police are seeking to identify and notify the dead man's next of kin.

Fawehinmi was remanded in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday (February 6).
