A popular Ipswich pub has been forced to close after running out of beer during Town's promotion celebrations. 

The Spread Eagle in Fore Street is currently shut as a result of a successful Saturday. 

Announcing the news owners said: "We had such a good day yesterday that we've sold out of beer."

The pub will not be open today or Monday and is expected to reopen on Tuesday. 

Thousands of people travelled to the county town on Saturday as the Tractor Boys gained automatic promotion to the Premier League after beating Huddersfield 2-0 at Portman Road. 

After the game fans packed the streets of the town centre as the celebrations continued. 

Speaking last week pub owners said they were expecting Saturday to be one of their busiest days of the year.
