A man was attacked by a group of people armed with weapons near a Shacklewell school.

The adult was taken to hospital for treatment after reports of an assault in Downs Park Road, near to The Excelsior Academy, today (December 11) at 3.45pm.

The Metropolitan Police says that a group of males, some armed with weapons, attacked the victim before leaving the area in their cars.

It is understood that at least one of these weapons may have involved a knife.

Both police and the London Ambulance Service were called to scene after the report was made.

No arrests have been made and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 15:45hrs on Wednesday, 11 December to reports of a man assaulted in Downs Park Road, E8.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the male was taken to hospital for treatment.

“It was reported that a group of males, some armed with weapons, attacked the victim before leaving the scene in cars

“There has been no arrest and enquiries into the circumstances continue”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said; "We were called at 3.50pm, ambulance crews treated a man and took him to a hospital."
