A restaurant that promises US-style steaks with a Middle Eastern twist is set to open in Shoreditch next month.
The Black Cow at The Stage, from Shiri Kraus and Amir Batito, will open on Thursday, June 12.
The duo, known for The Black Cow and Epicurus in Camden, will be coming to East London, opening at The Stage: the landmark mixed-use development in the heart of Shoreditch, which at its centre houses the remains of the Shakespearean Curtain Playhouse, and borders Curtain Road.
The restaurant will be split into three dining areas: The Performance courtyard, The Gallery, and The Backstage, which also takes form as a private dining room.
Upon entering, guests will be greeted with cuts of steak dry ageing in open glass fridges along the right side of the restaurant.
The interiors are influenced by Broadway theatre and the rich tapestry of Middle Eastern theatre, with black and emerald hues, and Middle Eastern terracotta floors.
The Performance Courtyard is inspired by open theatre and will be punctuated by olive trees.
Up above in The Gallery, guests will have a clear view of the main stage - The Black Cow’s open kitchen, positioned with spotlights for diners to watch the theatrics of open-fire cooking play out.
Shiri said: "Things that are tongue in cheek always bring me joy, you can see that across our menu with the play on the American steakhouse with Middle Eastern influences.
"This opening is something that fits so well into that concept, we love that this site is steeped in history having been one of Shakespeare’s theatres, and we’re excited to bring that out in the restaurant."
Amir added: "My passion is steak and sourcing the best beef the UK has to offer.
"We work with the finest British produce, and The Black Cow at The Stage takes it up a notch with our own dry ageing."
