Victoria Park Lido Festival In the Neighbourhood free events

The festival kicks off tomorrow with Massive Attack headlining, while the accompanying In the Neighbourhood event will run from Monday (June 9) until Thursday. 

The event promises four days of free activities for all ages, ranging from live music to sports and fitness sessions, family theatre shows, and after-work food and drinks.

The festival, in collaboration with Tower Hamlets Council, will be open between the weekend music festival days, providing continuous entertainment for the community.

In the Neighbourhood aims to engage children with football sessions from the West Ham FC Foundation, cricket activities hosted by Lord's, hockey skills with Wapping Kidds, and non-contact boxing workshops run by Limehouse Boxing Academy, all promoting physical health and mental wellbeing.

Live theatre shows will be presented by Half Moon Theatre, renowned for providing young people with opportunities to experience the best in young people’s theatre.

The Tamarind Theatre, based in Tower Hamlets, will also be performing.

Known for innovative performances, the theatre combines music, song, movement, and audience interaction, focusing on Bangladeshi and other cultures.

Captain Fantastic Wellbeing Stage Sessions will also be present.

The mindfulness stage shows have been created specifically for children, to help them develop skills in resiliency, tolerance, wellbeing and confidence.

High-energy performances from West End Kids will also take place, offering renditions of musical theatre numbers.

Adults can enjoy live music performances and DJs while enjoying street food and drinks after work, with everything provided by local groups and businesses.

Fitness enthusiasts can partake in free sessions, including a 45-minute full-body Pilates experience by OpenMat Pilates.

The Strong Mums Club will also host sessions, offering progressive strength training programs for new mums and their babies.

Hackney Baby Sensory sessions and Adventure Babies will host sessions for toddlers.

Tower Hamlets will bring their over-50s Tea Dance to the park, hosted by Global Village Tony Lane, plus the Sunshine Kings live band.

Refreshments are free of charge, hosted by Age UK East London.

The festival weekend concerts will see headliners like Massive Attack on Friday, June 6, Jamie xx on Saturday, June 7, Outbreak Fest on Friday, June 13, Charli XCX's own Party Girl Festival on Saturday, June 14, and London Grammar on Sunday, June 15.

Lido Festival is putting artists first, allowing them to programme the festival entirely.

This means the headliners will bring their favourite artists, collaborators, newly tipped artists, and their own style to each day.

Named after Victoria Park's Lido Field, the 10-day event will offer hand-picked music line-ups with a focus on sustainability, as well as community events during the week.

More headliners, full line-ups, and programmes are to be announced.

The Lido Festival is committed to sustainability, maximising the use of the existing grid connection for clean energy, using renewable fuels where necessary, and focusing on waste reduction by offering 'packaged only' products and banning single-use plastics in all fan areas.

The festival will also measure its carbon footprint, with a partnership with travel management tool Lowr to track fan-travel emissions and plan for future mitigation.

Assessors from A Greener Future will score the festival's work and provide detailed carbon analysis of the whole event.
