A leading Shoreditch arts venue has announced the appointment of its new chair.

Tamsin Ace, director of East Bank, has taken up the role at Shoreditch Town Hall, bringing with her experience from some of the UK’s most influential cultural organisations.

Julie Flavell, chief executive of Shoreditch Town Hall, said: "We're thrilled that Tamsin will be our next chair.

"She brings a wealth of experience from her leadership roles in artistic venues, and in her current role as director of East Bank, she offers valuable local connections and insight from major organisations."

Ms Ace’s career includes more than a decade at Southbank Centre, where she curated major public festivals including Imagine Children’s Festival and Unlimited.

She has also held senior roles at the London College of Fashion and the Museum of the Home.

Ms Ace said: "I’m delighted to be joining Shoreditch Town Hall as their new chair.

"It is an exciting time for the organisation and I feel honoured to be part of this next chapter."

She replaces outgoing chair Emma Stenning, chief executive of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, who led the board for three years.

Ms Stenning said: "It has been an honour to work as Shoreditch Town Hall’s chair these past three years."
