A "classic" play set in the shadow of the AIDs crisis in 1980s London will be coming to a Stoke Newington theatre as part of LGBTQ+ History Month.
My Night with Reg by Kevin Elyot will run at the Tower Theatre from February 25 to March 7, offering 11 performances of the Olivier Award-winning play that explores friendship, love, and loss during a time of crisis.
Set in 1980s London, the play centres on a group of gay friends, all connected by the unseen but ever-present Reg. As they gather, unspoken truths and shifting relationships come to the surface, revealing the tensions and secrets underlying their friendships.
Dan Usztan, who is directing the new production, said: "My Night with Reg is a classic of the queer theatre canon, and to be directing it as a queer director during LGBTQ+ History Month with a queer cast is the icing on the cake."

My Night with Reg won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and enjoyed a successful West End run before being filmed for television.
Mr Usztan said: "This year's LGBTQ+ History Month focuses on science and innovation – so to look at this play again, with such advances around AIDS treatment and prevention, shines a light on the bravery and resilience that so many men shouldered, and also the shame they faced from governments who wouldn't let them live.
"My Night with Reg will have you laughing and crying in equal measure – bring your friends and a box of tissues."
Tickets for My Night with Reg are priced between £9 and £15, with group discounts available and all tickets half price on opening night.
The Tower Theatre, located at 16 Northwold Road in Stoke Newington, is staging the production as part of its programming for LGBTQ+ History Month.
