A new bar is to set to open in Hackney this autumn from one half of the team behind Norman's Cafe.

Marrion’s will open in mid September at 177 Morning Lane bringing Elliott Kaye back to hospitality just more than a year after closing Norman’s in Tufnell Park.

The venue moves into an address previously occupied by Nest and Big Night.

Its Instagram page gives little away but Kaye has told The Standard it will be “nothing too pretentious”.

The cocktail menu will focus on classics, alongside a rotating house martini and wines while Spanish beer, Victoria Málaga, will be served in smaller caña glasses.

For food think devilled crab rarebit, pork schnitzel Holstein with a fried egg, a classic cheeseburger and sarnies including a tuna melt.

Sunday brunch will include smoked ham with sage-fried eggs, a fried fish sandwich and baked eggs with vodka sauce.

Founded by Kaye and Richie Hayes, it had red and white check curtains and the black and white tiled floor was a nod to workmen's cafes while selling beans on toast for £6.

Last June, the contemporary greasy spoon cafe made the "very tough decision" to close after five years in Junction Road.

At the time they said they wanted to progress and develop what they had started at Norman’s through other avenues.

Design details of Marrion's are not yet known but all will be revealed when the venue opens in mid September.

Marrion’s opens at 177 Morning Lane, London E9.
