A crowd funding campaign to raise £82,000 to transform Well Street Market into a “go to” destination was launched by singing and dancing teenagers there last weekend.
The idea to regenerate the street comes from the Well Street Traders and Residents Association who plan to set up a teenage market, student makers’ market and a live music stage for locals to book performance slots, and a community bee project to make Well Street honey.
The Spacehive campaign lasts 12 weeks, and if £82,000 is not pledged by then, the money must be returned.
In three weeks the Mayor of London’s office will track progress made and decide whether to pledge £20,000.
