Cops have begun to piece together the final moments of Abraham Badru’s life, but still have “gaps in the jigsaw” – including whether or not the shooting victim was seeing a woman who was in another relationship.

Abraham, 26, was gunned down at 11.10pm on March 25 as he got out of his car in Ferncliff Road, Dalston, just yards from his mother’s home.

The personal trainer and football coach died at the scene from a shotgun wound to the chest.

Over the past six months detectives have taken 163 statements, followed up more than 600 lines of inquiry and viewed 200 hours of CCTV footage – which they say has been a challenge in itself, with some video formats taking hours to play back just 10 minutes of footage.

Now they have released a timeline of his final movements in the hope of encouraging key witnesses to come forward.

Timeline

Saturday, 24 March:

10pm to midnight: Abraham was at Restaurant Ours in Chelsea at a birthday meal. It is believed that he was with about nine or 10 friends.

Sunday, 25 March:

Midnight: Abraham travelled in a convoy of cars to a nightclub at the Arbor Hotel in Osborn Street, Spitalfields. He stayed for 10 minutes, and spent the night with a woman.

4pm to 5.30pm: Abraham travelled to Brent Cross Shopping Centre.

6pm: Abraham went to his father’s home.

9.10pm: Abraham ordered a takeaway from 805 Restaurant in Hendon and picked it up

9.40pm to 10.15pm: Abraham was at his father’s home.

10.20pm to 10.40pm: Abraham visited a woman before travelling home to Hackney. On the way he spoke to a woman on the phone for 44 minutes.

11:11pm: Abraham was fatally shot while he was still on the phone.

Det Ch Insp Noel McHugh from the Met’s murder squad wants to hear from anyone – even if they think the information is irrelevant.

“We have a significant number of gaps in the jigsaw of what is known about Abraham himself,” he said.

“For instance we believe Abraham had a number of girlfriends and we are keen to know who they were.

“It is possible that he may have been seeing someone who was in another relationship, and I’m appealing for anyone with this sort of information to contact me.

“Did Abraham confide in you about his worries? Did you notice any change in his behaviour? I know that this could be tricky, but I assure you we are solely interested in piecing together Abraham’s life.

“I think that there is an assumption in the community that someone else will make that call. Clearly that hasn’t happened and I need your call.”

A £20,000 reward remains on offer for anyone with information which leads to the arrest and prosecution of his killer – who police believe cycled off on a white bike with no lights moments after the shooting.

He is described as a black male who was wearing a black Puffa jacket and had a rucksack on his back.

They are also keen to speak to anyone else who was in the area that night.

“Even if you think you didn’t see or hear anything, we need to eliminate you from our inquiries,” said Det Ch Insp McHugh.

“I would rather get the same information 40 times, than for that critical call to not be made.

“Abraham’s mother is in so much pain – not only with the loss of her son, but the silence from those who could help catch his killer is ripping her apart.

“Every day, Abraham’s family have to live knowing that the person who did this is still out there. Someone knows who killed Abraham; I have said the answer lies in the community and I still believe that.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8785 8099, via 101 or @MetCC. Alternatively, to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
