The first 100 Hackney Gazette readers who present a copy of this week’s newspaper at the cinema will win two tickets to a film of their choice.

Hollywood actor Michael Fassbender made a cameo appearance at the opening of the borough’s new cinema in Mare Street.

The 34-year-old Hackney resident, who starred in acclaimed 2008 film Hunger and more recently X-Men and Jane Eyre, was among the first people to visit the four-screen Hackney Picturehouse, which has been set up inside the old Ocean music venue.

The new cinema opens its doors to the public today (October 28).
