Hackney Marshes has been invaded by 20 foot high giant spheres, creating a scene that could have come straight out of a science fiction movie.
Early morning joggers and dog walkers like Dee O’Connell were stunned to discover the surreal sight yesterday morning at what is dubbed the home of grass roots football, which has been a breeding ground for English players from Bobby Moore to David Beckham.
Ms O’Connell said: “I went out with my mum and we just saw it in the distance and though, “Oh my god what is that,” it looked like some kind of alien invasion,
“It did look really weird but when we went up there were a million people and lights, and a catering van,” she added.
The strange incident is part of a big global TV campaign which will be announced later this week.
