An ambulance on an emergency call on New Year’s Eve had to abort its mission after it was involved in a collision with a car in Stamford Hill.
The ambulance, which belongs to medical charity Hatzola, was responding to a call in the area when the accident took place at around 9.16pm at the junction of Amhurst Park and Clapton Common.
The ambulance driver and crew member were unharmed in the incident but the driver of the car was treated at the scene for back pain before being taken to the Royal London Hospital.
Both vehicles were badly damaged in the incident. The ambulance that was damaged is one of three dedicated vehicles and it is yet unknown whether it will be operating again.
Hatzola is a voluntary organisation which offers emergency medical aid and an ambulance service primarily to the Orthodox Jewish community. The service is compliant with Jewish religious laws and is funded by donations from the community.
