Police have launched an appeal for help to trace a missing man last seen in Hackney.
James Matthews, known to friends as Jimmy, was has not been seen since June 22 when he was staying with friends in the borough.
The 51-year-old, who was reported missing on July 6, has strong links to Rugby and police have received reports of potential sightings of him in that area. But officers say it’s possible that he has returned to Hackney.
He is described as a black man of slender build, 5ft 8” tall.
Hackney Police are appealing for Mr Matthews to contact them in person at any police station or by telephone on 101. Anyone who knows of his whereabouts should also call police or charity Missing People on 116000 themselves.
A police spokesman said: “We would like to stress to James that we will not share any information concerning his whereabouts with any third party. We simply need to know that he is okay.”
