A calous thief stole the bicycle of the police officer busy tending to a colleague who had been injured in a collision with a car in Stamford Hill.

The Police Community Support Officer, believed to be in his 40s, suffered non-life threatening injuries the incident just after 5pm in Cazenove Road last Thursday.

Another officer from the Lordship Safer Neighbourhoods team climbed off a black and silver Specialized mountain bicycle to help the PCSO but it was quickly stolen.

Police are appealing for information. PS Sue Wright, from Clissold Safer Neighbourhoods team, said: “I am anxious for this bike to be returned to us so that we can continue to patrol the ward on two wheels.”

The bike, which was donated to police by Spence Bakery in Church Street just two weeks ago, has ‘Crosstail’ but not ‘Police’ written across the frame.

The frame number is WSBC608162588F.

Christopher Irwin, 22, of no fixed abode, was charged on Monday with attempted grievous bodily harm in connection with the PCSO’s injuries. He was remanded in custody to attend Thames Magistrates Court on Tuesday (November 1).
