Members of the Jewish community were subjected to vile anti-Semitic abuse late on Saturday night.
A man was heard shouting offensive remarks, including references to “gas chambers”, on Clapton Common, Clapton, by members of volunteer-run Jewish neighbourhood watch service Shomrim, who called police.
Officers were called at 11.24pm. A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said a man was arrested on suspicion of a racially-aggravated public order offence.
