A disabled artist has been lifted off the ground by 20,000 helium balloons for a performance art piece at St Leonard’s church in Shoreditch.
Vienna-born artist Noëmi Lakmaier’s Cherophobia installation is being live streamed online and at art centres for 48 hours.
It is part of the Unlimited festival celebrating extraordinary works by disabled and deaf artists. Cherophobia aims to connect people through shared suspense and anticipation. It takes its title from a psychiatric condition defined as an “exaggerated or irrational fear of gaiety or happiness”.
People are invited to head down and watch the performance art piece which ends tomorrow.
