Hackney Empire was one of the 1,000 buildings across the country lit up by a beacon as part of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations.
The venue was one of 17 in the capital to be included in the event, which was started by Her Royal Highness at Windsor Castle.
Lt Colonel Morris, representative deputy lieutenant for Hackney and the borough’s speaker Cllr Sade Etti climbed up to the top of the building at sundown. Well-wishers gathered below in Hackney Town Hall square to celebrate the Queen’s mile stone birthday.
