Bingo bosses have confirmed transport will be provided to an alternative venue for regulars of the Mecca hall in Hoxton after it closes tomorrow.

MP Meg Hillier met with Henry Birch, CEO of Rank Plc, and Martin Pugh, managing director of Mecca Bingo on Friday (June 12) to discuss how to minimise the impact of the Hackney Road branch closure on residents.

A free coach service to the Mecca Bingo in Camden will be piloted for eight weeks.

It will operate twice daily and will continue depending on the volume of people that use it.

Ms Hillier said: “If residents keep using the buses in the eight weeks, they will keep them. Mecca was very willing to engage with me and mindful of the fact this is a lifeline for users.”

She added more people should consider taking advantage of the coaches and giving the game a try.

A pick-up and drop-off point for the coaches has not yet been finalised.
