Developers of the controversial £900million Bishopsgate Goodsyard scheme are asking the public to have their say on revised plans for the site.
It comes after initial proposals were scrapped following a backlash, with the main opposition over the building of two towers at 38 and 48 storeys. In 2015, director of the Victorian Society Christopher Costelloe likened the blocks to something better suited to Chinese megacity Shenzhen.
Fewer homes will now be built. There were about 1,350 in original plans, but this has been slashed to only 350. There is more of a focus on workspace and public spaces , including a link from Brick Lane to Shoreditch High Street and an elevated park.
The project is a joint venture between Ballymore and Hammerson. Ballymore’s Nicola Zech-Behrens said: “We have listened to what the local community has told us. We want as many people as possible from across the community to take part and share their views.”
