A business idea thought up by Woodberry Down school kids has raised £42,000 for a children’s charity after being rolled out across the country.
Agnieszka Rudnik, Daisie Spiteri, Elif Sucu, Mark Daniel and Matthew Daniel, students at Skinners’ Academy in Woodberry Grove, came up with iRoundUp during an enterprise challenge run by The Prince’s Trust two years ago.
The scheme would round up payments made to schools through the ParentPay platform to the nearest pound, with the difference being donated to charity.
ParentPay then rolled out the idea across its whole platform and it has now presented a cheque of £42,000 to the Wallace and Gromit’s Children’s Charity.
Helen Haskell, Corporate Partnerships Manager at the charity, said: “The students at Skinners’ Academy should be very proud. Their ingenuity will allow us to make a huge difference to sick children and their families in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK, and we’re truly grateful for that.”
