ONE of the most feverishly anticipated Hollywood flicks will be shot in Hackney, the Gazette can reveal.
The big screen adaptation of comic book legend Captain America will be filmed partly at the Hackney Empire.
Rumours had recently been circulating the internet about the plans to use the iconic building, with an Empire source this week confirming the deal.
Disney, which recently bought the film rights to Marvel’s comic book roster, were not available to disclose when the filming would take place, but it is believed to be scheduled to take place from September 15-17.
It is expected that most of the film’s leads, Chris Evans (Fantastic Four), Hugo Weaving (The Matrix Trilogy, Lord of the Rings) Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive, No Country for Old Men) and Samuel L Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Die Hard with a Vengeance) will all be involved in the scenes shot at the Empire.
Set in the 1940s, the plot sees Evans play Steve Rogers, an ailing man who is augmented to the peak of human perfection by a special serum administered by US Army doctors.
