A Stoke Newington community choir will perform their modern-day version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury this weekend.
Chorus of Dissent will transport the original production into 21st century Stoke Newington for the event, which will put the singers and an orchestra together for the first time.
A preview will take place at St Matthias Hall in Wordsworth Road at 8.15pm on Wednesday, with tickets costing £5.50.
The two full performances are at the same venue on Saturday, at 3.30pm and 5.30pm. Tickets are £11 and can be bought here.
In October the choir raised £5,000 for Antigua and Barbuda after the Caribbean country was left devastated by Hurricane Irma.
As a result conductor Ruth Whitehead travelled to Antigua to teach music for a fortnight. Her work there culminated in a huge concert with five choirs performing who had never before sung together.
