Clapton Girls’ Academy is “likely” to be in the top 10per cent of sixth forms in the country after celebrating another “amazing” batch of A-level and BTEC results.

All students passed their exams, with 85pc achieving A* to C grades at A-level and 92pc distinction or above at BTEC.

Outstanding individual A-level performances included Lauren Zell-Huxley (A*A* A) who secured her place at Bristol to study mathematics.

Lauren said: “The maths and science departments are so amazing. All of the support is there to make sure that you get the grades you need.”

Maryam Ahmad (AAAA) was also busy celebrating her exceptional science results and her place to study medicine at Imperial College.

A number of BTEC students are off to study at Russell Group universities, including Nasreen Allyjaun (D*D*D*- Midwifery at Kings College) and Zunaira Deen (D*D*D* studying Business Management at Queen Mary University of London).

Sumayya Patel, one of Clapton’s highest GCSE achievers in 2016, maintained her excellent track record gaining A*AAA grades in government and politics, history, English and EPQ. She goes on to study history at University College London.

Sumayya’s success in English was shared with the rest of her class who collectively achieved a 100pc A* to B pass rate. Sumayya said: “At CGA, the teachers really go the extra mile for you. They are so supportive and have helped me so much.”

Alexandra Virlan, another English A-level student, celebrated achieving AAAB in art, English literature, economics and EPQ and was very excited at the prospect of her university place to study graphic and media design at University of the Arts London.

Alex said, “I have had such a great journey at CGA. The teachers are always there for you. The support here has meant the world to me.”

As well as going on to Higher Education, Clapton students are also embarking on exciting apprenticeships in a range of employment sectors. Amber Jackson is taking up an apprenticeship in construction with McLaren while other students are pursuing exciting careers-based apprenticeships in investment banking, education and sports science.

Our students displayed outstanding commitment and determination when facing the challenges of the new A-level and BTEC exams. It is great to see that all of the hard work from students and our amazing staff has paid off.”
