Sixth-formers from BSix College in Upper Clapton will pit their wits against other budding entrepreneurs, with the chance of having their start-up become a reality.

The team behind social media app Popullus attended the London Met university’s Big Idea Challenge bootcamp at the headquarters of competition sponsor Natwest last month, where they picked up some helpful advice from industry experts.

The events app lets people know what is trending among their friends and peers. “It was great to attend the bootcamp and we have learned a lot from our mentor about the industry and we have also learned a lot about working together as a team,” said Emmanuel Onapa, who is working alongside classmates Mohammed Hamza and Usama Osman.

Their creation will be judged alongside others from schools and colleges across London before a winner is announced next month.
