Contemporary African art exhibition opens in Stoke Newington next week
A selection of abstract, impressionist and realist works from African contemporary artists will be on show in Stoke Newington’s cultural caf� next week.
A selection of abstract, impressionist and realist works from African contemporary artists will be on show in Stoke Newington’s cultural caf� next week.
Art exhibition The Portfolio will go on show at Open the Gate in Stoke Newington Road, featuring work by Ghanaian Kweku Opoku, Ugandan Stephen Gwoktcho, Kenyan Peter Ngugi, Zimbabwean Bruce Chidovori, as well as Ghanaian Kofi Agorsor.
Curator Kwame Akuffo, set up the AFRIKart Gallerie - which is putting on the exhibition - to promote art from east and west Africa, but has extended the reach to include India and the Caribbean..
“Come and savour and be enchanted by the goofy and whimsical playfulness of Agorsor’s works, witness the emergence of Bruce Chidovori as an artist to be watched, and enjoy Stephen Gwoktcho’s delectable portraiture,” he said.

The free exhibition is on for two weeks from Saturday November 27 to Wednesday December 8 at Open The Gate, 35 Stoke Newington Road
