The search is on for a handful of young Hackney people who would like to showcase their passion for their community and sport as part of the Olympic and Paralympic Legacy.

Applications to become Hackney Ambassadors are being accepted, as part of the Take 12 Challenge, which aims to encourage 12,000 people across the six host boroughs to do 12 hours of sport or physical activity or cover 12km in distance.

The idea is to find several 16-25 year olds to work for three months to persuade people living and working in Hackney to get physically active and to access the open spaces and sporting facilities on their doorstep.

Funded by the London Legacy Development Corporation, group training sessions will be provided to help the successful applicants plan marketing strategies and methods to promote sport in their community and on-going support will be given through and e-mentoring system, culminating with guidance on incorporating the role into their CV.

The deadline for applications is midday Friday February 15, to apply email nicola@take12.org.
