Hackney Council is investigating whether TV builder Tommy Walsh breached planning conditions at a property in the south of the borough.
The Ground Force star was given the green light to build a two-storey extension in May 2013 following an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate.
The decision ruled, as is normal, that work must start within three years, but a complaint was made to the town hall that work had in fact started in September 2016 – months after the cut-off point.
A Hackney Council spokesman said: “We received a complaint relating to this alleged breach of planning control and are investigating in line with national planning rules.”
Planning rules state if conditions are breached the development built without permission may have to be demolished.
