About 800 performers and volunteers from 25 carnival, community groups and schools will come together in a celebration of the different cultures and creativity which thrive in Hackney.

Paraiso School of Samba, Soca Sagaboys, Pantonic Steel Ochestra, Unity, Tropical Isles and Urban Touch are some of the groups adding colour to this year’s parade, along with Shacklewell primary school and Our Lady’s Convent High School.

The procession leaves Ridley Road at 2pm and will work its way south along Dalston Lane and Richmond Road towards the Town Hall in Mare Street, before heading up the Narrow Way, and back to its starting point via Dalston Lane.

After the procession, the carnival will continue with a finale in Ridley Road, featuring Reggae, Soca and Brazilian music and food until 8pm.

Hackney’s best young musicians will be performing in Hackney Town Hall Square between 12.20pm and 3.30pm, and a children’s play area will be set up in Gillett Square.
