Hackney gunshot wound victim ‘stable’

The police officer who was rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound this afternoon is in a stable condition, it has been confirmed.

The man was taken to an East London hospital after the firearm was discharged in Haggerston, Hackney, at 12.45pm today.

An authorised firearms operation by officers from the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command (SCO19) and Trident Area Crime Command was taking place in Scriven Street when a firearm was discharged.

Next of kin have been informed. There are no reports of any other injured persons at this time.

A man was arrested at the scene.
