Afis Omoshola Kadir, of Glenarm Road, Haggerston, entered the house down the same road he lived through an unlocked door in the morning of July 9 last year.

A man who burst into a house and poured a bucketful of petrol over a victim, who he then tried to ignite unsuccessfully, has been found guilty of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.

Afis Omoshola Kadir, of Glenarm Road, Haggerston, entered the house down the same road he lived through an unlocked door in the morning of July 9 last year.

Mr Kadir poured the petrol over a 23-year old man who was visiting the house.

A 32-year old man who lived in the house had heard the door open and came into the room to see Mr Kadir with the lighter in his hand attempting to light it, before he fled the building.

Police were called and arrested Kadir nearby.

Kadir was charged with attempted murder and grievous bodily harm without intent on August 29 2012, and remanded in custody.

He was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court last Thursday (April 18), and will be sentenced on May 16.
