The Passion Social Club in Lower Clapton has had its license revoked after causing “misery” to nearby residents.
The move against the club in Amhurst Road followed many complaints from local residents about noise and anti-social behaviour.
Hackney Police’s licensing team and night time economy team gathered evidence to present to the licensing sub-committee on Monday night.
Sgt Guy Hicks of Hackney police’s licensing unit added: “This social club has been responsible for numerous breaches of its license and has caused misery for residents in the vicinity, who have had to put up with noise and anti-social behaviour.
“The club failed to engage with us and left us therefore with no option but to apply for a revocation of its license.
“This is a great result for the team and the residents who live in the area.”
A police spokeswoman added: “Revoking a venue’s license is usually a last resort, and most licensing issues are resolved before matters get to this stage.”
