A 61-year-old man is being held by police after a shopkeeper in Stamford Hill was threatened by a knifeman.

Police were called to Upper Clapton Road just after 4pm on Tuesday to reports of an armed man.

Officers arrested a 61-year-old man at an address in Rossington Street on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

According to one witness on social media, a man was seen brandishing the large knives at the shop shouting: ‘You Jews run away from here before I kill you.’
