Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was allegedly racially abused and assaulted in Stoke Newington.

The 34-year-old victim, who is of Pakistani decent, was walking along Northwold Road just before midnight on Monday November 25, when he was approached by a man carrying a can of lager, who made racial remarks about him.

The man then punched him in the face before running off towards Stoke Newington High Street.

The suspect is described as a white man, slim build, clean shaven, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, aged between 40-50 years old and wearing dark clothing.
