Loaded handgun seized from cereal box in Hackney

The gun was found at an address in Gayhurst Road, London Fields

Officers from Hackney’s gang team and an Operation Bantam team – the borough’s proactive firearms unit - executed a warrant at an address in Gayhurst Road in London Fields.

The weapon was found in a cereal box, and a large quantity of class A drugs were also found at the address.

A man aged 28 was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing a firearm and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

He has been taken to an east London police station.
