Man from Hackney charged with terrorism offence

A man from Hackney has been charged with possessing information useful for terrorist purposes.

Alaettin Kalender, 50, has been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in October.

His arrest followed a pro-active operation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

In a separate prosecution Ayfer Yildiz, 45, of St John’s Wood has been charged with two counts of encouraging others to commit a terrorist offence.
